The Chinese calls it "Peh Kim Tiam" in Amoy ever since I was little. The store has survived several fires and is now transferred to a new location in front of a cemetery. Despite that, people from almost all walks of life still go there to shop. I can still find items that other malls don't sell like inexpensive synthetic makeup brushes and good quality false lashes. ( I do events makeup on the side by the way.) In fact, I got 5 rolls of decent looking Christmas wrappers for P11.00 only recently. It's the cheapest I could find here in Cebu. And I need lots of it this holiday season. Kids are just gonna tear the wrappers up anyway.
So where's the food? Well, I wouldn't want to miss snacks whenever I go there. I use to love their authentic fresh Chinese lumpia, complete with lettuce, peanuts, shredded seaweed, and wansuy. But sadly the stall closed. This time, I went for a bowl of steaming hot Batchoy and some Takuyaki Balls.
The Batchoy goes for P35.00 per bowl with simple ingredients of hot pork broth, noodles, crushed chicharon, chopped green onions and an egg. The takuyaki sells for P20.00 for 3 balls with your choice of regular or hot sauce and "ba-hoo" topping. Yumm! Simple sidewalk style food enjoyed indoors.
